Automatically mutes profanity and cleans up the subtitles in your movies and video files, so the whole family can watch without the language getting in the way.
Cinema Guard is a Windows desktop app that removes profanity, swear words and vulgar language from your own video files. Point it at a film, press Censor, and it writes a clean copy next to the original with the offending words muted and the subtitles cleaned up to match.
It listens to the film's dialogue with a speech model, or reads the subtitles it already has, then mutes only the moments that carry a filtered word. Background music, sound effects and the rest of the dialogue are left exactly as they were, and the video itself is never re-encoded.
Cinema Guard is free for Windows 10 and 11 (x64). Download the installer to get started.
Cinema Guard also comes as a free browser extension for Chrome, Brave and Edge. It mutes swearing in YouTube videos while you watch, using the same word lists, and can be turned on for other video sites too. Nothing is sent anywhere: it reads the video's captions inside your browser. Add it from the Chrome Web Store.
